Our Montessori Curriculum

Reading/Writing

In Reading and Writing, children are invited to explore the letters, sounds, and structure of our language. Our classroom is rich with words and books, encouraging the development of personal connections with reading. They also participate in guided letter identification and formation lessons, small-group phonics instruction, and Kid Writing. (Materials include sandpaper letters, letter/sound board, journals, among others).

Math/Science

In Mathematics, children discover concepts by working with hands-on materials, developing skills from one-to-one correspondence through graphing, place value, addition, subtraction, and multiplication. (Materials include number rods, bead stairs, counting tiles, among others).
In Science, children use inquiry and observation to explore a variety of scientific materials. They also participate in experiments, care for classroom pets, and engage in outdoor exploration. (Materials include water table, chemistry, biology, among others).

Art/Music

In Art, children express themselves through a range of materials while also being introduced to artists and art movements. (Materials include easels, oil pastels, stamps, among others).
In Music, children joyfully sing, listen, and explore rhythm through a variety of musical experiences and instruments. (Materials include drums, a listening center, and song-based activities, among others).

Practical Life/Sensorial

In Practical Life, children engage with meaningful materials that support caring for themselves and their classroom community. (Materials include sweeping, pouring, dressing, among others). In Sensorial, children gently refine their visual discrimination while deepening their understanding of order through experiences that engage all five senses. (Materials include stacking, sorting, puzzles, among others).

Geography

In Geography, children explore the world, its people, cultures, and countries, fostering a growing sense of global awareness and connection. Through hands-on materials and meaningful experiences, they begin to appreciate both the diversity and commonalities of life around the world. (Materials include foreign language, landforms, holidays, among others).
